Alyssa Scott

Licensed in Oregon & Washington

Student Clinician

Alyssa is a 4th-year doctoral candidate at Pacific University’s School of Graduate Psychology; her training focuses on the Child Emphasis. Her previous clinical training experiences have included residential, community mental health, integrated pediatric primary care, and hospital settings serving a variety of populations (children, teens, adults, families). Before graduate school, Alyssa worked with at-risk youth and families in AmeriCorps and Peace Corps; these experiences shaped her passion and long-term career goal of working as a child psychologist in an underserved and rural area the United States.

Alyssa has a strong background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Alyssa is a warm and positive clinician that brings enthusiasm and boundless curiosity to each client encounter. Alyssa has found that one of the most rewarding aspects of working with anxiety disorders has been helping clients build confidence in tolerating their distress, thereby pushing past their fears, and opening more opportunities in life. Alyssa is especially passionate about working with anxious children, as early intervention in one of her areas of interest and early intervention of anxiety can positively impact grades, school performance, social and interpersonal skills, and life outcomes.

Alyssa is thrilled to have an entire training year to learn from professionals who are deeply committed and passionate about working with anxiety. She values the uniquely collaborative approach to client care that is at the core of NW Anxiety Institute. She is excited and deeply grateful to be a new member of the team.

Alyssa grew up in the Great Smoky Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. In her free time, she unwinds by practicing yoga, running, biking, hiking, and camping with her husband.
