MARA ESBER, PsyD

she/her

Associate Clinician I
Licensed Psychologist

Licensed in: Oregon, Washington, Wisconsin

[email protected]

Mara feels incredibly honored and proud to be part of the team at NW Anxiety Institute. From the start of her training, Mara took an interest in working with individuals with OCD and anxiety. She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois, where her dissertation explored parents’ involvement in their child’s OCD treatment. She has a passion for supporting and empowering parents and family members through their loved one’s treatment.

Mara went on to complete her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine & Public Health. Here, her experience focused on treating children and adolescents with a wide range of concerns. She further honed her skills in diverse specialties, including working with individuals with eating disorders, facilitating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) groups for adults, and providing care in a child OCD residential center.

Mara is deeply moved by the courage and strength of her patients, as they face their fears in service of their values. She places great emphasis on collaboration in the therapeutic relationship and brings warmth, energy, and creativity to this space.

Outside of the office, Mara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, trying new mediums of art (currently photography!), and getting excited about the latest show she is watching.
