Lesley Nelson, MPAff, QMHPStudent ClinicianLesley is a new student intern at NWAI. She is in her final 2 semesters at Lewis & Clark College and will be receiving her Master’s in Professional Mental Health Counseling in December 2024. Lesley is skilled at finding the through lines that help connect her clients with their innate strengths and courage. She relies on her curiosity and an open and expansive understanding of mental health to engage with clients and to help them reach their treatment goals. Lesley has previous experience working with chronic pain and mind / body communities and has had some training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
Prior to beginning her Master’s coursework at Lewis & Clark, Lesley received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin. She spent several years working in the nonprofit community in Portland, including as a program director for Partners for a Hunger-Free Oregon and as a fair chance employment coordinator for the Dave's Killer Bread Foundation. In her spare time, Lesley loves to run long distances, soak in hot springs, hunt for antiques, and wander farmer's markets in the summer looking for the most over the top artisan pastry. She is delighted to call Portland home and is very excited to build a career as a mental health counselor in the Pacific Northwest. Lewis & Clark College
